A delicious savoury made from gram flour. It’s fun, easy and tastes great as an evening snack.


1cup gram flour
1cup yogurt
½ tsp. turmeric powder
2 cup water
Salt to taste
1tsp. sesame seeds
1tsp.mustard seeds
1tbsp. oil
Grated coconut & coriander leaves for garnishing


Mix together 1cup gram flour, 2cups water, pinch of turmeric powder, salt and 1cup curds in a big bowl.

Blend with a hand blender till all the ingredients are well blended.

Pour this mixture in a heavy bottomed vessel. Keep on gas.

Cook on a medium flame stirring continuously till the mixture thickens well.

Cool for about 5 minutes. If the spread comes out well that means the mixture is ready.

Pour the remaining mixture on the greased flat surface and spread instantly.

Cool for about 15 minutes. Cut into strips and roll each strip.

For the tempering: Heat oil in a small frying pan.

Add mustard seeds and sesame seeds.

When the seeds splutter add ½ cup water, 1/2 lemon juice and pour this tempering over the khandvi.

Garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves, serve as a snack with Chutney.
