Meethi mathree

Mathree is a north Indian snack that is made from plain flower and had as a snack during tea time.

2cups Plain flour
¼ cup Semolina
1tsp. Carom seed
5tbsp Butter or Ghee
½ cup Fresh Fenugreek leaves Chopped
1tsp. crushed black pepper
Salt to taste
Oil for frying


Take the flour in a bowl, add salt, pepper, carom seeds, Chopped Fenugreek leaves and mix well. Add melted ghee and mix in well. Add cold water and knead into semi hard dough. Make around twenty to twenty four balls of even size and flatten them slightly. Roll them into small rounds and use a cookie cutter for design. Heat sufficient oil in a frying pan Reduce the heat on attaining the frying temperature. Add the mathris and fry till golden and crisp. Drain and let them cool. Store in the airtight box. Enjoy with Tea and Coffee.
