One of my comfort food is Pasta, Quick and easy option for anytime meal. It satisfied the taste buds as well as comforts the soul. Gigli & Broccoli is the easy recipe for delicious dinner or for lazy lunch.  Try this 30 minutes recipe and serve as an after school snacks for kids. I am sure they will giggle and happy.

Gigli is flower shape pasta, similar to lilies. If you don’t have this shape you can substitute with Fusilli or farfalle.


For Serving: 4


3 cups Gigli Pasta, or farfalle

2 cups Fresh Broccoli florets

1 Medium Red Bell Pepper, thinly sliced

2 tbsp. Olive Oil

1 cup Roma Tomato Puree

½ cup cream

½ cup Fresh Basil

½ tsp. White Pepper powder

1 tbsp. Crushed Red Chili

1 tsp. Dried Oregano

½ cup Parmesan Cheese, grated

Salt to taste


Boil the pasta in salted water with oil till al Dante,drain and keep aside.  Boil water in the separate  pan and cook broccoli florets for 2 minutes. Drain and refresh in ice cold water.

In the large fry pan heat the olive oil and sauté the bell pepper slices. Add half of the basil, broccoli, oregano, pepper powder and tomato puree. Cook for 2 minutes and add boiled pasta and cream. Add water if required. Mix gently and Add salt and crushed chili. Cook for 2 minutes. Add cheese and remove from heat. Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.

Note: I used 1/2 cup water saved  from pasta drain, its taste better than normal water while diluting the sauce in pasta.
