50 gm. Yellow split lentil, washed and soaked

2 Small carrot, peeled and chopped

1 Medium tomato, skin removed and roughly chopped

2 tbsp. Olive Oil

500 ml. vegetable stock or water

1 small stick Cinnamon

½ tsp. dried coriander powder

1 tsp. white pepper

½ tsp. Dry Ginger powder

Salt to taste

1 tsp. Cumin seeds

2 tbsp. fresh parsley garnishing


Heat the one tbsp. oil in the pressure cooker and sauté carrot and coriander powder. Add soaked lentil, cinnamon stick,ginger powder, tomatoes, white pepper and stock and cook up to 3 whistles. Remove from the heat, cool. Mash the cooked lentil with the back of ladle and add some hot water to adjust the consistency of the soup.  Discard the cinnamon stick and simmer again for 3-4 minutes. Temper with oil and cumin. Serve hot.

As fasting started, here is simple and easy recipe of peanut laddu, try and enjoy.

Makes 10-12 Laddu


2 cups Peanuts, without skin

1 cup Sugar, powdered

2 tsp. cardamom powder

2 tbsp. Ghee or Clarified Butter

4 tbsp. Sesame seeds, dry roasted



Roast peanuts in the microwave for 2 minutes on high. Cool and grind in the grinder in to fine powder.

Heat the heavy bottom pan and add ghee and peanut powder stir and roast for 3-4 minutes without changing the color. Add cardamom powder and remove from heat. Keep aside to cool it little bit. After 5-7 minutes add sugar and mix well with the help of spoon or hands. Keep sesame seeds in the plate, now divide the mixture in to 10 -12 equal parts and make round shape. 1 small Orange

200ml.Craneberry Juice

200ml. Pomegranate Juice

1 inch Cinnamon Stick

1 tbsp. Powdered Sugar

1 Strawberry, cut into halved


Cut orange into slices and simmer for 10 minutes with cranberry juice and cinnamon stick on low heat.

Remove and cool. Mix with pomegranate juice and chill for 30 minutes. For serving discard the cinnamon stick and orange slices. Rub the rim of glasses with orange juice and roll into powdered sugar. Pour the juice and garnish with strawberry.

250 gram cottage cheese

2tbsp.Mint & Guava Chutney (Freshly grounded ½ cup Mint Leaves with 1 green chilli salt  and 1 small guava)

Oil for frying

For batter-

2cup fine chickpea flour

1tsp.Red chili powder

½ tsp. Turmeric powder

Salt to taste

1tsp. Ginger paste

Mint Chutney and Tomato Ketchup for serving



Wash and cut Cottage Cheese into circular shape with cookie cutter. Slit each piece into half leaving one edge for filling.

To make Mint& guava chutney blend together mint leaves, guava, chili, salt. Add little water while mixing, if required.

To make batter mix gram flour with ginger paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Add enough water to make a thick batter. Mix well to make pancake batter like consistency and keep aside for 15 minutes. Spread mint chutney into the slit of each Cottage cheese piece.

Heat sufficient oil in a fry pan dips each piece of cheese in the batter and deep fry on medium heat till

crisp and golden brown. Serve hot with Mint chutney or tomato Ketchup. Enjoy the life with good home cooked food.
