Celebrated with great fervor in North as well as South India, Navratri is a 9-day long festival that is dedicated to the 9 manifestations of Goddess Durga. The tenth day of the festival is commonly referred to as ‘Vijayadashami’ or ‘Dussehra’. Like many other festivals, Navrati too encompasses fasting and then feasting. During the 9 days of Navratri, a special menu is adhered to, abstaining from meat, alcohol and processed food, as the body is set for detoxification.

With respect for tradition, Chef Hoshiyar and his team at Antique Bazaar have specially curated a menu offering a vibrant range of beverages, snacks, mains and desserts which appeals to all palates. North Indian dishes such as Dahi Bhalla Chaat, Arbi Masala, Dahiwali Aloo ki Subzi,  as well as Gujarati Kadhi Pakode, Dhokla, Sabudana Khichdi and much more are on offer. Traditional sweets like Phool Makhane ki kheer and Shrikhand end the Navratri culinary experience.

Iftar in the Ramadan Majlis

The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC has commissioned Lebanese designer and muralist Pierre Abboud, to design the interiors of the DIFC Ramadan Majlis, to create a truly memorable experience for guests.  As part of the design, Pierre has created two 12-metre-long murals of the Dubai cityscape that will line the walls, with one representing Dubai’s coastline, including iconic landmarks such as Burj Al Arab, whilst the other fittingly depicts downtown Dubai, including the famous DIFC Gate and Burj Khalifa. Savory ‘Booza’

The star of the show is set to be a variety of Savory ‘Booza’, the Arabic word for ice cream, served as unique condiments to the Falafel Waffle, which proved to be a hit at last year’s Iftar.  The Savory Booza is offered in four popular Ramadan flavors; tahini, beetroot mutable, sweet potato mutable and hummus.  The hotel’s now famous Arabian Sushi station will also return by popular demand, with handmade maki rolls including flavors such as lamb shawarma, hammour, and shish kebab rolls.

A wide selection of traditional Ramadan dishes will also form part of the lavish buffet, including hot and cold mezzeh, and approximately 15 live stations where The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC’s chefs will showcase their creative flair, including ouzi carving, fatat hummus, shawarma and saj stations, along with a wide range of seafood and international dishes to cater to all tastes.

Sohour in The Sunken Garden

An à la carte Sohour will be served daily in The Sunken Garden, offering a range of Middle Eastern cuisine, along with a menu of over 30 flavors of shisha, table seating or private majlis, and live musical entertainment.   Surrounded by a serene landscape of palm trees and a dramatic water fountain, the magical garden remains cool throughout the summer due to its low-level positioning and air conditioning, providing a unique al fresco setting for guests this Ramadan.

Chocolate with Ramadan Flavors

Four delicious new chocolate milk drinks with Ramadan flavors including Dulcey Date, Marrakesh Mint, Opalys Cardamom and Apricot Saffron, will be served hot or refreshingly cold at Sohour, and in Cake, the downtown Dubai hotel’s patisserie and café, throughout the day for those who are not fasting. True to its name, Cake will also offer a range of unique Ramadan cakes, pastries and desserts, including Baklava Tart, Date Delight and Date Walnut Cake throughout Ramadan, as well a mini chocolate fountain for two, flavored with orange, rose or saffron.
